Landscape architecture
A sensitive, rigorous approach adapted to the Norman climate
Our landscape architecture practice is based on a deep understanding of the Norman territory and a careful approach that considers the land, its uses, and the surrounding architectural framework. Each garden, terrace, and outdoor space is designed as a natural extension of the built environment and its landscape, in pursuit of harmony, fluidity, and sustainability.
Site study, exposure & climatic constraints
Before any project, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the site. This step begins with consulting the land registry and urban planning documents, followed by an on-site visit. We observe the orientation, prevailing winds, soil type, sightlines, existing vegetation, the presence of remarkable trees, view quality, as well as slope and contour lines. When necessary, we recommend that the project owner obtain a topographical survey conducted by a surveyor to accurately position the project.
Our empirical knowledge of the Norman climate allows us to anticipate recurring weather constraints and adapt the designs accordingly. Certain projects, such as our secondary residence in Villers-sur-Mer, have demonstrated how a detailed reading of the site can guide and enrich the entire landscape design.
Garden plans: sketches, flowerbeds & pathways
The initial landscape sketches take the form of overhead plans that convey our intentions: sight axes, perspectives, flowerbeds, living areas, terraces, and pathways. These elements constitute our signature, always guided by a quest for coherence between the house and the garden.
The outdoor pathways are designed as small walkways leading to planting areas, terraces, and relaxation zones. We first propose a unique version of the plan, which is then adjusted based on client feedback and wishes.
Selection of species adapted to the Norman climate
The selection of plant species is carried out in close collaboration with a professional landscaper. We define the desired ambiance, and they propose the plants best suited to the site and the Norman climate. Among the local or well-acclimatized species, we favor hydrangeas, holm oaks, camellias, roses, boxwoods, and hedgerows such as hazel trees.
We also create plant palettes according to the desired atmosphere — Mediterranean garden, wild, structured… — and certain compositions are particularly dear to us, such as those created for Villa Madagascar in Villers-sur-Mer or Villa Côte de Grâce.
Design of terraces, patios & outdoor spaces
We regularly design terraces in natural stone or brick, always favoring authentic materials for their elegance, integration into the landscape, and durability. Outdoor lighting is carefully studied: marking pathways, highlighting plants and materials, while respecting nocturnal wildlife.
Our projects include several emblematic works, such as the Manoir du Parc or the classified seaside villa in Trouville-sur-Mer.
Integration of outdoor structures
We frequently integrate structures such as walls, stairs, pergolas, or lighting, always working to ensure their proper insertion into the harmony of the garden. For this, we collaborate with partner companies: earth movers, masons, landscapers, electricians.
Again, certain reference projects testify to our standards: the Manoir du Parc or the classified villa in Trouville-sur-Mer are among our most significant achievements.
Planting plan & maintenance schedule
Detailed planting plans are created by our landscaper, who defines the precise arrangement of species. From the initial studies, we address the issue of maintenance: depending on the garden's composition, it may be minimal or require regular follow-up. In this case, the landscaper can propose a specific maintenance contract.
We can also provide annual support or occasional follow-up if the client wishes. One rule remains essential: the quality of materials and plants always determines the longevity of the installation.
Landscape project monitoring
We ensure complete monitoring of the landscape project, from earthworks to final plantings. All stages — masonry, material installation, lighting, vegetation — are controlled to guarantee perfect compliance with the designed project.
Our organization relies on regular on-site presence: we hold as many site meetings as necessary to ensure optimal coordination with partner companies and maintain the expected quality of execution.
